in transit #1
During my walk to the train, on our second very cold day in a row here in Brooklyn, I saw an over weight man
casually lumbering across Tompins wearing his jacket wide open with a smug expression on his face.
We get it. You're fat. What is typically a physical hindrance, is now a super power {thumbs up emoji} #ShowOff #NotThisGuy

the floating agency that never will be
My dream agency is one where very few people work from home because everyone understands that a strong team is built on direct and clear communication and that not until each co-worker takes a moment of actual face time with each other, is that connection established.
This agency knows that every individual has their own style of sharing & interpreting information and the more direct these individuals can communicate within one room, the better they can relate to one another when working apart. Ambiguity is the death to any project.
Within this agency, every employee does their job because they love it, they are talented at it, they've committed to it and they're being paid for it. They are not there to not listen when thoughts are being shared or not give insight into subject matter with which they have knowledge of or worst yet, toss a wrench into subjects with which they have no knowledge of or interest in learning more about.
Within this agency, amazing creative is key, The Client is a client who needs advice — not a child with an ever melting ice-cream cone — and the work place is fun because everyone enjoys their job, not because there is a foosball table and a keg in the break room but because they truly enjoy this line of work and believe in working hard to accomplish a mind-changing, sweet-ass, collective goal.
In this agency, every team member, client and consumer wins because no longer are the employees simply chatting each other silly with bad puns, attempted wit or offering distracting side stories into every conversation so that they can make their next move up the ladder. Instead, they are now discussing ways to lift the entire organization into the clouds and beyond.
the wonderment
I have been looking for local institutions around Brooklyn that I can help children with their interest in the arts and be a kind of mentor but unfortunately I haven't been able to find any that offer weekend programs. Most are only during the week, after-school or during the day for toddlers and sadly because of my advertising work schedule, making time for those hours isn't easy. I am hoping that this association might help solve this, not only here in Brooklyn but around the world too.

malala
I wish I would have known about this petition. I remember hearing about the attempted murder of Malala Yousafzai by the Taliban and being incredibly shocked & disgusted by the unscrupulous nature of such thugs who would try to take the life of a child for fighting for her right to have a proper education. I am so glad that she survived and is still determined to make change in her confused, violent male-dominated, backwards country (I know that sounds judgmental but considering the situation, it's appropriate).

animation block party goodies
So I went to the 10th annual Animation Block Party here in Brooklyn a few days over the weekend.
A lot of fun and a lot of great talent.
I composed a list of favorites to share with a friend who couldn't make it but I figured, why not share this list with everyone else while I'm at it.
I realize that these are waaaaaay more links than most of you will visit. So here's a short list of really good ones that are actually on the internet and available to watch.
If you have additional time you can check out the others!

Favorites from Friday:
"Jamon" Iria Lopez. This was a great one but I can't find the full length film on the webs— http://www.jamonfilm.com/
"Sidewalk" By Celia Bullwinkel. This one was great too but I ALSO can not find the full-length online (so annoying)— http://sidewalk.virb.com/stills
"Elk Grass" By Abby Luck. FINALLY one that I can find online. Finally an artist who isn't over-come with paranoia. Love this one. Beautiful animation, great music and a terrific story — http://vimeo.com/68589283
"Feral" By Daniel Sousa. Unfortunately, only the trailer exist online for this one too. Think the artists are doing this because the films are still screening for the first time. Anyway, good film. About a naked kid who gets "saved" from the wild by a hunter. The hunter tries to make the kid assimilate into modern society. Kid tries but ultimately reverts — http://danielsousa.com/feral.html
"Umbrellacorn" By Bluesky Studios. This was one of the only entires submitted by a heavy hitter in the film industry that night and it was a major crowd favorite. Surprisingly low-key in it's animation style for a multimillion dollar animation house but I think that really added to it's cool-factor. HOWEVER incredibly disappointing cuz they haven't even posted a trailer of it on the web!!! — http://blueskystudios.com/films/umbrellacorn/
"I am Tom Moody" By Ainslie Henderson. Another where I can't find the full animation online — http://ainsliehenderson.com/Resizedwebpages/films/tomtrailer.html BUT if you go to his blog and watch the post for June 22, 2013, it's pretty amazing — http://ainslieanimation.tumblr.com/

a good solve to a nice problem
Another day behind the brushes trying to earn my bigger room.
interpreting #JuicyJ 's #showout : one of many unintentional masterful messes
The hook should be "Every time I go out, I THINK I have to show out, because I'm insecure, under-educated & sadly unfit for this ever advancing society thanks to the poor school systems, poverty & many past prejudices that still psychologically haunt our communities, so I pretend everything is cool & I am in control while wasting massive amounts of quick money but in reality I am scared & attention, positive or negative, is the only thing that silences the hurting" that's still catchy & danceable right?
the things often unsaid

"mazel tov?"
It's been exactly 1 year to date since Myself & Ms Money Penny (my plant) have moved here.
Thankfully we're both succeeding, so I've decided to reward her with a spacious new home of her own

trivial blathering?
So, since Tuesday night, I've been playing this game for PS3 called The Last Of Us and it's pretty mind-blowing but it's full of loading errors,
so I've tweeted the game makers repeatedly and just recently posted something on their forum page.
Sounds so ridiculous but it's just that good!
All I want to do is beat it. Plus after you spend $70 bucks on something, that crap should work.
Soooo anyway, below is the letter I posted on their forum yesterday. I am not the only one complaining about this problem either, which drives me even more crazy.
If the game maker, Naughty Dog, would just acknowledge the problem then I'd feel a little better but it's like they just don't care.
"We have your money now. Thank you for making us rich. Now bugger off."
Anyway, posting this here just makes me feel a little better, I guess...
also, don't buy this game until this problem is fixed, if you value your money:
------------------------------------
Hello,
First off, the game is amazing.
But more importantly, it keeps freezing either directly before a movie scene or right after I die and does not allow me to continue.
Instead I am forced to shut down my PS3, restart the game where it last left off then I am allowed to play a bit longer till it freezes again
(usually every 15 to 30 minutes). Now I have reached a part in the game where even that isn't possible; The Sewers.
Now the game will not let me proceed past the part when Joel & Ellie get separated by the gate.
It just keeps freezing immediately after the movie sequence. This is incredibly annoying. Please Fix.
I have Restored my File System AND I have Rebuilt my Database.
So those two things are not the problem.
The game is.
You have an amazing product in this game but these errors are dragging it into the mud. This needs to be fixed as soon as humanely possible
AND someone at Naughty Dog or Playstation needs to acknowledge that this is in fact a problem and that it is being fixed.
It's simple Public Relations & Consumer Comfort.
Please address this issue.
Thanks
thief on the loose
An update on how amazing life is. Went to Bicycle Roots yesterday. A cool guy named Joe works there.
One of the many places I visited last week when my bike was stolen. Says a buddy of his saw my bike the day after I spoke to him.
The thief was trying to sell it on the streets of the lower east side. Still had the ULock attached to the top tube.
No one was buying it because it was obviously stolen.
I love it. Irony, Consequences & Coincidence's.
Its a book, for children, mostly
I have written & am now slowly illustrating a childrens book. I have 7.5 pages drawn now, out of an estimated 14.
This is turning out to be much more work than I expected but on the upside, I am really happy with how it's shaping up.
Once I have all of the pages drawn then I will begin painting them with gouache.
The plan is to keep the paintings simple, loose & fun but I am getting the sneaky suspicion that my subconscience
has something much more complicated in mind, based on the drawings that I have been producing so far.
I hope to beat that subconscience into bloody submission.
I am not sure how many drawings or paintings I will share before the book is complete.
Check back here weekly or connect with me on instagram to stay tuned.
